Dear Mr. Mills:

I have read with great interest your proposal for a feature documentary film exploring the history of Pan American World Airways. I think the story you have outlined has possibilities as a theatrical release and Sony Pictures Classics intends to follow the progress of its production closely.

There are wonderful elements of drama in this story that chart not only the birth of aviation in America, but also the struggle of Juan Trippe to build and maintain an incredible business empire. It is an important story that, if told right, should have resonance with movie-going audiences both domestically and internationally, and might even generate attention from the Academy. And naturally, the film should have a long life in ancillary markets following any theatrical run.

I wish you all the best in your work on this project. Please feel free to contact me during production, as I would be happy to share ideas with you about ways to help make the picture as commercially accessible as possible.

Sincerely,

Dylan Leiner
Senior Vice President, Acquisitions & Production
